Felix Soto Izaguirre

First Year Examiner

Sterling Council

Vice President, Finance

Chief Financial Officer

WellStar North Fulton Hospital

If you could tell an Examiner going through site visits for the first time one thing, what would you tell them?

I would certainly tell them to prepare themselves as much as they can and to follow the Sterling process for EI and consensus as designed by the organization. In addition, I would encourage any examiner to collaborate as much as possible during the consensus phase. Take very good notes, so you can use to validate strengths and OFIs during site visit.

On site visit, which category are you most comfortable with (and most uncomfortable with) when querying the applicant?

To me, the result category is the one that I can relate the most and the category that I feel most comfortable to query the applicant, on the other hand, the customer category is probably the one I found it less appealing to inquiry the applicant.

In what ways does looking through somebody else’s strengths and OFIs help you when assessing the performance of your own organization?

I believe the review of strengths and OFIs certainly enrich my business acumen and provides additional insight as to how other organizations pursue performance excellence. It is definitely a learning experience and a professional development opportunity that helps me better understand if the approaches that we use in my organization have deployed correctly and If we are obtaining the desired result.

What job would you be terrible at performing?

I think… actually I am sure that I would be terrible at selling products… I do not believe I have that much persuasive power to make people buy things.

What skill would you like to master?

I do very little home improvement projects at home, primarily because of the nature of my job… however, I think I could be good at building or working on remodeling projects if I can dedicate enough the time to develop that skill set.

What is the best way to start your day?

The best way to start my day is to exercise. I feel energized when I go to the office after being at the gym, so I try to workout at least 5 days a week.

What is special about the place you grew up?

I grew up in Lima -Peru and the community, family and friends made that place very special to me. In addition, the food in Peru is just extraordinary. Currently, it is one of the best culinary destinations in the world, so I always enjoy visiting family and friends and enjoying good food.
